Operations Manager

job description:

The Operations Manager is responsible for helping to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations Sanderson, Florida facility. The Manager serves as a performance-driven leader and partners with Regional Operations, Market Directors and shared services support function leaders to help the region achieve its overall and operational goals. Decision-making authority for key regional operational areas may be delegated from the Director of Operations to assist in effective and efficient operations decision-making. Working well as a collaborative member of the Company’s broader leadership team is imperative to success in the role, as is the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment where systems and processes are still being developed and maturing.

Accountabilities:

  • Plan, organize and direct day-to-day operations across all shifts in accordance with facility goals, standards, costs, budgets and established procedures.
  • Increase production, asset capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Monitor operations and refine policies and programs to improve productivity and quality while eliminating waste and reducing cost.
  • Promote open communication among managers and employees concerning goals, performance standards, company policies and procedures. Create a positive work environment within facility which encourages innovation by fully utilizing the synergy of all associates through developing trust and a cohesive team.
  • Work with the Director of Operations to develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective operations.
  • Work with HR to address employees’ issues, manage grievances, and ensure that disciplinary procedures are handled in a consistent manner in accordance with company policies and collective bargaining agreement.
  • Stay up to date with latest manufacturing & production management best practices and concepts

  • Create a positive safety culture ensuring safety of our employees and visitors at all times. This includes ensuring procedures and practices are in place and are being followed
  • Take responsibility for effectively leading all of the processes
  • Focus on maintaining continuous improvement initiatives/activities within the operation.
  • Establish procedures and policies to achieve production schedules, product standards, and operational costs
  • Ensure compliance of Red White and Bloom Standards
  • Interact and communicate with employees to monitor performance, engagement, and employee development
  • Engage in and support plant human resources matters relating to office staff, safety initiatives, and labor relations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

qualifications:

  • BS degree in Business Management or related field preferred
  • Proven work experience as an Operations Manager
  • Proven managerial experience
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise (preferred)
  • Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Excellent oral, planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Strong work ethics and self-starter
